Modern Canon DSLR cameras have a "Picture Style" setting within their menu, which lets the photographer alter their JPEG output.
Here is a way to make your digital photographs look like they were shot on film. Chris Gampat posted it on his The Phoblographer web site. I tried it on my 5DS r and have been very pleased.
In your camera menu, go to Picture Style and scroll down to User Def.1. Select Standard as the base, and then press Info. You will see the default settings displayed. Move Strength down two notches. Fineness goes up two notches, as does Threshold. Contrast goes down a notch, and then Saturation goes up one. Tone also goes up one. Save the changes, and you're done.
I cut my photographic teeth on film, and love the classic look which this tweak provides.
Should you need them (as I did), Canon has instructions on how to set the User Defined style in your camera manual, and on their web site.
